Step back into time! Since 1887 The Grand Hotel has delivered guests a bygone era of 19th century old-world hospitality and charm — afternoon tea in the parlor, dressing for dinner, nightly dancing to the sounds of the Grand Hotel Orchestra and sitting in a rocking chair on the world’s longest porch with views of the Straits of Mackinac. This National Historic Landmark has a rich history, yet has kept up with technology as well. The original architecture and late 19th century charm have been tastefully preserved along with a Donald Ross designed golf course. On Mackinac Island cars are not allowed. Horse, carriage and bicycle are the favored modes of transportation.

PROPOSED ITINERARY

Day 1 – Arrival Meet & Greet + transfers from Pellston Regional Airport (PLN), about 15 minutes south of the ferry dock in Mackinaw City, or Chippewa County International Airport (CIU)
Welcome Dinner tonight at The Jockey Club (informal)

Day 2 – Morning free to enjoy hotel facilities and the Astor Spa
Afternoon private tour of the Grand Hotel Stables and Carriage House as resident
Historian Bob Tagatz provides an overview of the hotel, island and its rich history
5pm Tasting Event with your wines
Dinner cookout in The Tea Garden (informal)

Day 3 – Morning lecture “Hollywood Comes to Mackinac” presented by the Mackinac State Historic Parks
Remainder of day at leisure to enjoy the Resort, town or activities
Silver service dinner tonight in the Main Dining room paired with your wines
(coat & tie for men, dress for ladies)

Day 4 – Morning at leisure to enjoy the Resort
Afternoon private carriage tour of the Mackinac Island, followed by “Sip ‘n’ Sail” sunset cruise on the Straights of Mackinac

Day 5 – Morning group bicycle tour of Mackinac Island
Afternoon at leisure
Farewell Dinner at The Woods Restaurant (Bavarian theme)

Day 6 – Departure Transfers to Pellston Regional or Chippewa County International Airport
